It’s that time of year where top lists are being announced. From today, 12/9/24 until 12/13/24we will announce our top 5 liquors of the year with next week getting the cigar treatment.
The criteria is simple, in order to qualify the liquor had to be reviewed from December 16th, 2024 until December 9thth, 2023. The only exceptions are store barrel picks, or single store cigar exclusives which are not eligible. An example of this would be, a barrel pick exclusive to a bar or liquor store or a line extension for a cigar shop.
Scoring in our reviews isn’t the only consideration as take into consideration how often we purchase another bottle or pour of the libation when we are about an about.
We start the list with the unveiling of Number 5 – Penelope Toasted. Coming in at 50% ABV / 100 Proof this bourbon showcases a flavor profile cinnamon, oak, and lemongrass before a long toasted oak finish. It sparked an interest in Penelope bourbons which has become a mainstay in my house on my home bar.
