Our Top 5 Countdown continues as we unveil Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon coming in at Number 4 on our list of the top liquors of 2024.
A relatively late review in 2024 the Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel is something we will be on the lookout for. While it doesn’t get a bump due to the fact we have never seen it in a local bar or at the liquor store other than one time when we managed to grab the last bottle off the shelf it is something we are actively seeking out. This is a statement as I refuse to chase bourbon.
Distilled at Wild Turkey this single barrel comes in at 110 proof and drinks rather easily. Sour apple notes carry over from the aroma to the palate on the initial sip with nuances of banana and mango. The tropical flavors disappear after the first sip as notes of rye emerge creating a wonderful spice with nuances of caramel and leather. The sips are bold and flavorful with a nice amount of complexity that seems to introduce something new with each sip.
