“It’s always a joy to attend PCA to share all that is La Aurora. It’s fitting that this year’s theme is ‘Legacy of the Leaf,’ because La Aurora is built on legacy,” shares Guillermo León, President and CEO. “La Aurora is not just a brand; it’s my family’s legacy that has been passed down for over five generations. Which is why it’s important that my family is present at PCA to show our commitment to the industry, as well as celebrate all the other family legacies that make this industry so special.”
Handcrafted with expertly aged tobacco harvested years ago, their Puro Vintage collection showcases the finest aging techniques for a rare, rich smoking experience that can only come with time. It is an annual release that has been a crowd favorite since its initial launch in 2008 both abroad and in the U.S. market. Puro Vintage, as you might think the name would imply, is not a Dominican puro.
But rather it is the culmination of Master Blender Manuel Inoa’s work compiling the finest tobacco crops (or vintages) worldwide
into a single cigar each year. And the concept of using the term “vintage” originated with a European audience in mind. Their 2024 release, Puro Vintage 2014 was handcrafted in the Dominican Republic from some of the most aged tobacco from seed to smoke, all of which began its lifecycle back in 2014 (for reference, this was the year that Pharrell’s “Happy” was #1 on the charts, and ten years later it is probably still stuck in your head).
It will be available in a Salomon format (6.5 x 50/60) and has a total quantity of 1,000 boxes globally. Each box will come with 8 cigars priced ($212.00 per box MSRP or $26.50) and begin shipping to retailers in mid-April.
Puro Vintage is one of Manuel Inoa’s favorite releases each year. “The Salomon format gives this cigar a very special smoke,” says Manuel. “Its shape, the doble figurado, makes it evolve differently as it opens and closes the ring during the burning, accumulating strength at the end. A real festival of taste from around the world.”
That is, this year’s release began to take shape in different crops all around the world. Ecuador, Brazil, Nicaragua, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic hosted seeds, and their varietal microclimate conditions produced what Manuel Inoa and La Aurora selected as the main components for this carefully curated smoke.
Utilizing perfectly aged filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Nicaragua, held together by a Brazilian binder, and wrapped in an oily Ecuador Havana leaf, this beautifully made premium cigar boasts rich flavor and balance that you’ve come to expect from La Aurora. Puro Vintage 2014 is a complex cigar that exudes dark woody notes, leather, walnuts, and rich nuances of wild honeys, all complemented by the elegance of the bitter taste from dark cocoa and hints of dried tropical fruits. Developed over two decades, the rich, earthy flavor profile and complexity are unlike any other smoke.
