Editorial: Cigar Court Podcast

It’s been 18 months since I was last on a podcast. About a month ago someone told me Cigar Hustler was saying they should have me on as a guest, so I reached out to them and nothing came of it because we couldn’t find a common ground on content. A week to 10 days later I received an email from Frank Herrera of H New Media Law about creating a regular podcast.

First off let me say I love my job as a Dispatcher of Police, Fire and EMS and the people I work with. It took a while to settle into the change of career but I am comfortable with what I do and how I do it. I’ve made a few good friends out of the career change as well. Let me follow up by saying, I am glad I am out of the cigar industry. While I look back in fondness of the days spend with my own shop, writing for magazines, working for Miami Cigar & Co., representing La Aurora Cigars I also look back with anger on other era’s of my 25 years in the industry.

As far as who is Frank Herrera, if you aren’t deeply into the cigar industry you probably don’t know who he is. Frank is recognized as a leading attorney in the cigar industry and he has also assisted clients in a wide range of industries such as coffee, beer and spirits, textiles, boats, software, food, and many others. Over the past several years, Frank was retained for national speaking engagements for his unique insight into the FDA’s regulation of tobacco.

He also owned a cigar shop called Charmed Leaf, and also almost got me and the son (Dan Tiant) of legendary baseball player Luis Tiant eaten by alligators.

We will be recording our first episode of Cigar Court Podcast on Thursday January 29th because despite knowing each other for 10+ years, who knows if we will have any chemistry for a 30-40 minute initial episode. I will also be honest, it will probably suck. Because let’s face it if you go back and watch pilots of some great TV shows they are cringeworthy. Hell, Seinfeld was close to being canceled…

Stay tuned for more details…
