The Nestor Miranda Grand Reserve 2024 returns after a 13 year hiatus in time for the 35th Anniversary of Miami Cigar & Co. The initial release came in 2011 with a green band and in 2012 with a blue band. The 2024 unlike its previous predecessors is in the round versus box pressed.
According to Nestor Miranda, “The Nestor Miranda Grand Reserve 2024 was a special one for us. 35-year anniversary is a big one! My wife and co-founder of Miami Cigar, Mariana Miranda, and I are still in awe by how far we have come. I really wanted to create a blend that was worthy of such an anniversary. I thank the team at the My Father Cigar Factory, for being patient with me throughout this process, as I wanted this blend to reach the highest possible standard.”
One 1,500 box of 10 were produced in this limited edition cigar.

The Cigar: The round torpedo features a beautiful wrapper with a reddish brown hue and a fair amount of oils. The band for the 2024 Grand Reserve features and intricate gold design over a red background and Nestor Miranda’s signature on the primary band with a secondary band denoting the year. In the hand the cigar is firm with no voids of tobacco and a decent weight.
The Taste: The cold draw of the Nestor Miranda Grand Reserve serves up notes of graham, cedar, spice and a subtle caramel. The foot of the cigar features a gentle sweetness on the aroma with cedar and spice. Once the cigar is toasted and lit there are initial notes of cedar take hold of the cigar with a subtle but growing pepper.
As we smoke the first third of noted of cedar are dominant with some pepper and chocolate. The flavors are smooth and balanced with a burst of red and white pepper on the retrohale that for me has forever ever been the Pepin trademark of cigars coming our of the My Father factory.
The second third sees notes of caramel begin to emerge with a hint of cherry sweetness over a canvas of earth. As we cross over the halfway point hints of lemon meringue and cookie dough begin to emerge with a nice amount of spice lingering in the background. The retrohale sees pepper pull back considerably with the addition of some caramel sweetness.
The last third of the sees continued notes of caramel with the introduction of brown sugar. As the cigar progresses past the band some leather comes into play but it relegated to the background. The retrohale continues to offer up a hint of sweetness and before I put the cigar down, I completed an order at Small Batch Cigar for a box.
Conclusion: This might be the most elegant cigar Miami Cigar & Company has ever released. While I am so against the price point, this trend appears to be the new normal. With that that I would have no problem at $15 for this smoke, but $18 stretches the value just a touch.
Rumor has it that Miami Cigar & Company wanted the Nestor Miranda Grand Reserve 2024 to be box pressed like in the past but due to a miscommunication it wound up being in the round. As Bob Ross would say there are no mistakes, only happy little accidents. The result is the best Grand Reserve to date and a must have for anyone who is a fan of Nestor Miranda or the My Father factory.
