A few years back ADVentura was becoming an increasingly popular brand gaining traction in retail shops in the USA. Then tragedy hit with a fire beginning in a neighboring building that jumped to the ADVentura factory. In the morning, it would be revealed Tabacalera William Ventura (where all of the ADVentura Cigars were produced) was burned to the ground.
Instead of caving to adversity the owners began construction on a new factory and in just three months the building, team and production were back in motion.
The new factory, Tabacalera Mina del Rey (The Mine of the King) pays homage to their best-selling cigar thus far, King’s Gold, and gives a nod to the fact that they consider the factory to be a gold mine, just pacing itself to produce gem after gem.

The Cigar: The ADVentura King’s Gold Tooth is well, toothy. The short cigar is is a hard box press with some toothy and a beautiful looking wrapper. The gold on gold weathered band sits slightly off center but fits the cigar nicely. In the hand the cigar is heavy for the size with no voids of tobacco.
The Taste: The cold draw has a raisin like sweetness and some wine like tannins that are easily identifiable. The foot of the cigar has notes of clay with a touch of cocoa. There is a lot going on for such a little cigar that I am intrigued to smoke this and eagerly light it up. The cold draw was a bit tight but any concerns over the draw went out the window once the cigar was lit.
As we smoke the first third of the King’s Gold Tooth it started out with notes of earth before that pulls back to reveal notes of cocoa and raisins with an intense leather finish that is also visible on the aroma of the cigar as it rests between my lips. The retrohale has a slight cherry sweetness with some addition leather.
We were going to review this cigar as two halves, but at the start of the second third there was a flavor change worthy of giving a normal review. The cigar begins to develop a rich espresso component with some wood on the finish. The leather remains but it less potent as a balsa wood begins to emerge while the retrohale sees a roasted nuttiness.
Moving into the final third notes of wood become the dominant flavor profile which reminds me of balsa wood especially on the resting aroma. There is also an abundance of raisins, and pecans which creates an incredibly tasty conclusion to this cigar. The retrohale sees the return of leather which lingers for just the right amount of time.
Conclusion: Living in the northeast the weather is changing. Coming home from work at 7am the temperature has already been in the upper 30s and after I wake up with the sun out of my back yard its a chilly post summer 50s (lets face it 50s in the spring feels great vs 50s in the fall). So it’s that time of year where if we are foced to smoke outside we need a shorter cigar. I am lucky I get to smoke in my hosue but it needs to be a pre-approved brand of the wife based on aroma (she can tell what I am smoking based on the aroma). I smoke more 4″ and 4.5″ cigars in the colder months then any other month.
The ADVentura Royal Return King’sGold Tooth is a great, yes great smaller cigar. I actually like it better then the more traditional sizes as the flavors were more robust. It also served its purpose of getting me that quick smoke when it was a little too chilly out to enjoy something longer.
