Rojas Cigars is back celebrating Cinco de Mayo this time with their own release simply called Cinco de Mayo LE. In 2023, the company released Elote for United Cigars, a version of the Firecracker which translated to Street Corn. Spoiler Alert: This cigar was exponentially better.
According to Noel Rojas this will be the first of an annual series to commemorate the Cinco de Mayo holiday which celebrates Mexico’s victory over the 2nd French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. This year the cigar is available in one size, one blend, with a total production of 1,750 boxes (35,000 cigars).

The Cigar: The colors. I am not sure how I fee about the near blinding colors of the band that stand out on a shelf but can be difficult to read. Colors of red, blue, black and gold are dizzying to say the least. The cigar features a near perfect looking Ecuador Habano wrapper that has some subtle tooth and a decent amount of oils. In the hand the cigar is firm with no voids of tobacco and a nice weight to it.
The Taste: The cold draw has a wonderful taste of marshmallow fluff, oats and a touch of honey while the partially closed foot has notes of mocha, marshmallow fluff and a touch of grass. Once the cigar is toasted and lit cedar develops with a subtle licorice component.
Settling into the first third notes of licorice notes develop further with touches of oak, coffee and brown sugar. The retrohale has a nice bite to it raising the perceived strength up a notch. It delivers notes of lemon, birch and a touch of pepper. While we are just in our first third the Rojas Street Taco Cinco de Mayor LE is incredibly complex with a lot going on that makes it an enjoyable smoke from first light.
In the second third the licorice remains but slowly slides to the background as notes of cocoa begin to emerge as the dominant profile with a brown sugar, black cherry and wood notes. As we cross over the half way point notes of oak become dominant with a creamy finish that is amplified on the retrohale.
As we some the final third, all three I’ve smoked have the same characteristics at the end; I don’t want to put it down. Notes of mocha and coffee dominate the palate with a touch of cashes and nutmeg over a wood base. It remains incredibly smooth to the last puff with a creamy finish and a subtle spice on the retrohale with additional brown sugar.
Conclusion: If you are a shop owner, Rojas Cigars is a brand your shop should be carrying. He is a part of the new generation of cigar manufacturers and even though he is celebrating his 10th Anniversary and is well on his way to being established as one of the best cigar makers in the business. The Cinco de Mayo hits on every level and it remains smooth, balanced and complex all the way throughout. It’s been a year of limited editions so far for the company, but they are definitely worth the chase.
