Boliche Blvd is 5th release from West Tamp Tobacco Company joining the ranks of West Tampa White, Black, Red and Attic Series. Like the Attic Series it’s a limited edition and available in only one size a 6 x 60.
Named after Columbus Drive in Tampa which is home to Cuban and Latin Restaurants where Boliche is a common dish of beef stuffed with ham with a side of rice.
Only 500 boxes of 50 were made and a friend was nice enough to send me a few for review since I could not find them locally.

The Cigar: The undisclosed wrapper is toothy with a fair amount of oils and a significant amount of veins present. The cap is sloppily placed on our review cigar but it held up under cutting. The vertical band denotes Boliche Blvd in black in white in the form of a street sign over a map of the area. In the hand the cigar feels a bit light for a gordo/gigante with no soft spots or voids of tobacco.
The Taste: The cold draw has a subtle fig sweetness with an abundance of earth present while the aroma from the foot is leathery. Once the cigar is toasted and lit there is a sweetness that begins to develop from the first puff.
As we smoke the first third notes of cocoa being to emerge as there is an enjoyable sweetness to the cigar to start things off. In the background there is some lingering leather but for the most part its held at bay by the sweetness. As the first third comes to a close the leather notes begin to ramp up with some lingering sweetness on the finish. The retrohale has some subtle spices with a fruity component.
The second sees notes of leather take hold as the focal point but there are elements of cinnamon, mocha and oak that appear from time too time to make things interesting. Around the halfway point a definitive pear note appears and for a while it takes hold as the primary note before pulling back to the dominant leather profile. The retrohale has a subtle spice with and abundance of leather on this finish with a touch of oak.
The final third of the Boliche Blvd by West Tampa Cigar Company continues to be leathery with notes of oak and subtle fig component. The retrohale sees the leather notes intensified and the cigar is rather one dimensional at its finish.
Conclusion: If you’re a fan of cigars with rich leather tannins then this is right up you alley, or should we say Boulevard. It’s not the best release by the company but that doesn’t make it a bad cigar. For me personally it falls a bit flat as it lacks flavor changes but at no time did I want to put it down prematurely though I would suggest another route to get to your destination.
